Dr. Younghee Kim, Associate Professor at Seoul National University, S. Korea and visiting Associate at Caltech GPS, gave an educational and entertaining lecture on what causes earthquakes to happen. By analyzing and drawing comparisons to the 2011 Japan earthquake, she also shared her insights on key questions such as the following:
- Can 'MegaQuakes'(magnitude 10 or larger) really happen?
- Are we getting close to the Big One in California?
- How does the ground move when 'MegaQuakes' occur?
